Got my characters created - only missed the naming on one, but I managed.
Lots of slider options, but my graphics were so laggy it was hard to see any changes I was making, most of them are pretty cloe to default - I hope they dont look stupid out in the gameworld.
Getting pretty lousy framerate - usually 5FPS or so in town with people and stuff, pops up to 11FPS when Im in the bar instance. Its playable, but I gotta work at movement (turning mosty - its very choppy and I can't do little quick turns when the FPS is low)
As far as gameplay goes I suppose Im doing alright - lvl 15 after 2ish days of moderate play. the mechanics are interesting without autoattack - if you arent actively hitting buttons to attack, you are just standing there soaking up damage, maybe blocking or avoiding a little.
Combos are interesting - a little helper pops up when you activate it, Im not sure Im doint all of them right - some of the tool tips say you need to hit buttons 2 or 3 times and I haven't been doing that. Dunno if those fire off or if they fail.
As for the adult stuff - meh, a little cursing and a ton of fake blood don't really make me cry. Some inuendo here and there, but I haven't gotten any of the NPCs to take me up on my offers
.
The game is very linear so far - everyone starts in the same city, with the same backstory - regardless of race or class. Very different from ANY of the MMOs Ive played in the past in that respect. EQ had separate cities, continents and factinos, EQ2 with city zones separate cities based on faction initially - 4 more added after. DAoC had realms and cities within, Vanguard with Cities and Factions. AoC - its just you and the pirate city run by an evil dude. You learn about your forgotten skills as you help the resistance rid the city of the bad guy's influence.
Not sure how things will progress after I exit the city and its island around lvl 20 - got some quests to do with 30 and 50 targets, and a bit more to explore - dungeon/sewer zones, and about 4 more instances to check out as my quests lead me there.
more to come
