Anyone here using the Mirage UI...if you do, do you recommend it? What is the upside and downside to it that you find?

I use Mirage UI...I think it's fantastic. It does a couple things other then just add cast bars...changes some colors around etc. etc. etc.

The one thing you need to make sure you do is to get the AOC Custom Mod Updater  from Curse gaming as well. Every time Funcom releases a patch, run that utility, and it will update the needed files with Mirage so that it's compatabale with the latest version.

...you still need to update Mirage manually though when it releases new features etc. etc.

They have a really good community over there, and the dev has been pretty quick to fix issues. You just need to make sure you follow the instructions on how to install the thing.

I just tried it and my health, mana and stamina bars had no color, they were see-through. Is anyone else having this glitch? Did I miss something while installing it?

Meh, I ended up going with another UI I got used to. All I wanted was an extra bottom bar and this new UI gave it to me without changing most of the other things.

I've installed and tested about 6 different UI's from the conanmods site.  The two I've found most compatible with my play style were Mirage and the AnarchY ones.  I had some problems with installs a couple of times, but usually, downloading the latest version, deleting the customized and default folders and putting the new ones in their place fixes everything. Yes, you end up having to redownload the latest patch version during your first login with the new UI, but they both work fine for me.

I'm currently using the latest Mirage because it has 99% of the features I'm looking for and NONE of the others hit 100% either.. but some come as close.

Best suggestion I have is to download various ones and try them. You'll only know after playing with each a bit, which one you like best.

I use Mirage UI.  Have since inception and man I love it.  I like the response times on patch day and the options it contains.  No real bells and whistles, just more veiwable space, and alot more bar space.

As for others in AoC I have little experience, but must admit that I miss my Omen/KTM in WoW alot lol.  Someone is bound to work it out, but lets hope its sooner then later!

No threat meter actually requires people to pay attention though!

I agree completely.  The problem I have with the system is that there is no visual or any kind of cue to your threat level on a mob.  Now I have no problem with this if every class gets some kind of oh shit button, but unless they spec to it most don't.  If the boss maybe threw out a knockback on second threat, or even just had a little target bounce that showed you your on the radar there is no reason to have said meter.  The truth of it is though that this game is in early developement, so mechanics like threat and such bounce and twitch.  With the amount of people that are hitting the end-game content at the speed they are, which is faster then I have ever seen, something needs to be done.  That being said a tank that does X amount of threat may do slightly less after any given patch.  The same goes for a DPSer or Healer.  I for one think threat meters make the game less fun, but playing a DPSer and never knowing if your screwing the raid or simply hitting like a wuss is no fun either.

Its best they fix this before the meter comes out, because its hard as hell to do when it gets to the mod hell that is WoW.

I just installed this last weekend and I love it.  I use the 3 bars (small) version and its help sooooo much on my Demo.  I was to a point (mid 50's) where I was having to shift between hotbars and it was too much.

I agree with the threat level thing.  Would be a nice addition.
